Oooohhhh, mannnnnn....

A Krispy Kreme tragedy! That's what it was. I might as well say up front, S and I have a little problem with ants. Something about the soil that our building sets on. We aren't overwhelmed with ants, but occassionally we see them in the house. Well...

The night I brought home the KK's I had drank some coffee at the KK restaurant and couldn't sleep. The KK's for my co-workers were sitting on the kitchen counter. About 1 a.m. I got out of bed thinking a martini may help me get to sleep. I fixed a martini, drank it, read some Time, and went to put the bar tools in the sink. I noticed a little line of ants around the KK's. "Hmmm...," though I, "I hope they didn't get in the doughnuts." Oh yeah. Those bastards were swarming. So much for my workplace philanthropy. I had to toss them down the trash shoot. THAT, my friends, is a tragedy.

But on a happier note, this week at work has been quite rewarding. I started a new job which has gone much better than expected. I had the usual anxiety that I wouldn't know what to do, would be overwhelmed, woudn't like the environment, etc. Turns out, my coworkers are great, the new boss is, in fact, same as the old boss: cool, and the work is really interesting. After eight years, it was definitely time for a welcome change. I think I'll stay!
