Vacation Wrap-up

Well, we've slacked off quite a bit on the updates, haven't we? Here is a recap of the waning days of summer vacation. Wednesday, The Lovely S and I went to Leesburg, Va., Shepherdstown, W.V., and Charlestown, W.V. The Leesburg stop was supposed to include at least one winery, a quick swing through downtown, and a stop at the outlet mall. We made it as far as the outlet mall. I wiped out J. Crew's stock of sale-priced sweaters and S tried on most of the clothes in Anne Taylor without buying anything.

Next up was our first ever visit to Shepherdstown to see a friend and his charming new bride-to-be. Shepherdstown is a small place but has a surprisingly vibrant main street with some excellent restaurants. They took us to The Stone Soup Bistro. Great place. We started off with a hummus/baba mezze platter. S had a pasta with wild mushroomo ragu and I had a Niman Ranch pork chop stuffed with cornbread and jalapeno. Delicious! Then we had our picture taken in the traditional location: In front of the Little House. It is fun to look giant!
