Back

Work has been busy the last week and I haven't had much extra time. The Big Project is almost done, though and I'm almost prepared for Boston in early November. S is deep into her career hunt with graduation approaching in December. This weekend we checked out some Armenian food at a church fundraiser in Bethesda, made a big dish of rigatoni alla Bolognese, a big pot of nyo rho mien (Chinese beef noodle soup), and S made an apple upside down cake. We also met S's brother at Arie's in Fairfax for brunch.

I had what they call "bubble and squeek." They make it with biscuits, gravy, fried chicken, poached eggs, and hash browns. They make excellent bloodies, too. We went to Artie's last weekend as well. My parents took us there to celebrate my 33rd birthday. I had the roasted pork loin with parmesan potatoes and S had the short smoked salmon filllet. It is quickly becoming my favorite restaurant. Needles to say, we won't be cooking much more this week or indulging in anything else too unhealthy. This will be a week for eating leftovers and hitting the gym. Here are a few pictures of the excellent Armenian food (shish kabob, humus, pita, meat pie, cheese pie, pilaf, and phyllo/shredded wheat/honey/rose water/nut deserts), apple upside down cake, fried green tomatoes from the parental visit, and a random pizza I made a couple weeks ago. Enjoy! Time for my whiskey sour.
