I know I have been MIA for a while, but last week was one of those that left me wiped out every evening. All weekend we cleaned out the house and storage space, rearranging and reorganizing in preparation for item one of the renovation: new carpet and wardrobes in the bedroom. Monday was a marathon board of directors meeting with a lot of complaints and no action and Wednesday was the first golf match of the season. Spring has arrived for good in DC! This week has seen madras, seersucker, and G&Ts, and S and I even discussed a trip to Cape Cod. I love living in D.C. where we can experience a variety of seasons, but I'm always happiest to see warm weather! Even though the week was busy, we did find time to make this strawberry rhubarb crumble to celebrate Spring! Throw some diced rhubarb and strawberries in a mixing bowl, add some sugar, corn starch, and Cointreau, and mix. Dump in a baking dish and cover with your favorite crumble topping. Bake at 375 until molten and bubbly!

Thursday after work The Lovely S and I met up at the bar of
Corduroy, the hotel restaurant at the Sheraton Four Points in downtown D.C. Tom Power is the chef and he has long been known for making top notch food and providing exquisite service. Nothing dissapointed in the bar, where you can order from the bar menu or the full restaurant menu. S and I had celeriac soup, a mozzerella porcupine (mozzerella deep fried inside a wrap of fine noodles), lamb loin with mini cheese ravioli, and chocolate sabayon. I had a couple of glasses of the house cab, which was pretty impressive. I can't speak very articulately about fine wine, but this was good enough to be easily distinguished from the swill I normally keep around the house. Very generous for a low priced, by-the-glass house wine. If you want food that is fairly basic and familiar, but executed very well with perfect service, head to Corduroy.

So I think you've officially turned into a food blog. It's all good though -- I love the photos, recipes, and reviews... keep it coming!
