The Short List: Gaggia Espresso

Another in the continuing, sporadic series of things I could not live without: The Gaggia Espresso. I bought my first espresso maker a long time ago, and never really got the results I wanted. When it was time to upgrade I did some research and found this one. It is simple in that it only makes espresso and steams milk. No bean grinding or other extras. But it is pump driven as opposed to steam driven. The pump is necessary to get enough pressure for a proper extraction. This is the first machine I've used that allows me to get a nice crema on the shot and that does not produce bitter, burnt espresso. Good espresso should be earthy and nutty. Yum! This one is a definite staple in our kitchen! It is what we wake up with every morning and we couldn't do it any other way!
