I have somehow managed to avoid much travel through LAX thus far. Our EVA Air flights connected through LAX last week, though. LAX could improve the traveling experience by implementing the following changes:
- Put flight monitors in the International Terminal which show flights arriving/departing in OTHER terminals. If one is connecting, one MAY need to know where to go.
- Put a RESTAURANT in the International Terminal. If one is catching a 14 hour flight, one may wish to first consume something more than a microwave pizza or a three day old refrigerated wrap.
- Put maps/directories in all terminals. Once one deduces where to connect (without the benefit of flight monitors), one may need to develop some plan for reaching said destination.
- If there is a sign which indicates the presence of a toilet, build a toilet there or take down the sign. Otherwise, one may decide to protest by pissing on the carpet.
- Place flight monitors at least in the terminals where your flights board/alight. Or somewhere in the airport. That would be helpful.
- Turn on the sign behind the gate agent which indicates which flight boards at that gate. Since you have no flight montiors, its tough to know otherwise.
- Try to convince your ticket agents not to be as totally unhelpful as possible.
- Try to make your confirmation codes work when entered into your website for check-in.
- Try to get your passengers' checked baggage to the carousel in under 45 minutes. When I pointed out to the baggage agent that US Airways may have lost the luggage of everyone on our flight, I was advised that, "No, this always happens. We just don't have enough baggage handlers and they're always backed up. You'll have to have some patience." No, I don't have to have patience. They can hire an appropriate number of employees to do the job, or I'll just have to choose another airline.
